Liu Chun Hai was born in Harbin, China in 1966. He is a relatively new artist who curated his first exhibition at Gallery 798 in Beijing, China in 2006. Chun Hai dedicated ten years of research to the creation and documentation of moments from the most secretive and controversial times in Chinese History, the Cultural Revolution.
Chun Hai’s oil paintings portray the simple, real, and present moments from the Revolution, with the majority of his artworks showcasing the sacrifices women had to make in the revolutionary cause, and most of all, their unwavering courage and bravery in the face of terrifying odds.
